Chop Chop after the second surgery (7 Oct 2005), by Michelle Temple, HK Alley Cat Watch
An update on Chop Chop, poor little guy has really suffered serious injuries. He was operated on yesterday for 3 hours, the vet pinned his right leg (eventually), but it kept popping out of place as the ligaments are ruptured, so it was very hard to fix. They managed to bandage it up and x-rayed him. Seems like it's inplace and hopefully will be okay.
The worst leg, the left one, is being operated today, they had to split the surgeries as the first one was long and they were worried he wouldn't come out of the anaesthesia. They will try to fix the leg first, if they can't then it will have to be amputated.
I'm starting to feel very guilty about all this surgery on Chop Chop. Especially now that if one leg doesn't mend, I'm not sure how possible it is for him to get around on two hind legs (if the only option is to amputate both front legs). I think that the only option/suggestion would be euthanasia - which would would hate to have to decide on after all he's been through now.
I only pray that at least one front leg heals after surgery.
Anyway we must have positive thoughts and hopefully he'll be okay and recover. We are NOT giving up on him, and we will NOT put him to sleep unless he is going to live a life of misery and not able to get around.
If anyone knows of any cats with both front legs amputated that are getting around fine, please let me know.
I'll keep you posted tomorrow on how Chop Chop is post his surgery today. It's all very sad for him. He was our most serious case unfortunately and had the most injuries to recover from. Here's hoping his little body is strong enough to get through this.

2005 年 10 月 7 日初初接受第二次手術後情況 (Michelle Temple, HK Alley Cat Watch)
可憐的初初，傷勢原來十分嚴重，昨天經過三小時的手術，獸醫終於可以將牠的右腿用針來固定，但由於初初的韌帶破裂，要固定腿骨非常困難。最終獸醫用繃帶包紮好傷口，再為牠照 X 光，似乎腿骨是固定下來了。
今天獸醫為初初受傷最重的左腿進行手術。手術要分兩部份進行，因為第一部份所需時間太長，獸醫怕牠不能從麻醉中甦醒過來。他們會嘗試修正這條腿，若無法修正，就要將腿切除。
對於初初的手術，我可以覺得很內疚，尤其是若有一條腿無法修正，而唯一的辦法是要切除一對前腿，我真的不知道牠怎可以單靠後腿活動。可能最終的建議是人道毀滅，而要初初經過這麼多痛苦後才作出這個決定，是我萬萬不想的。
我現在只能祈禱，希望手術後，起碼有一條前腿可以復原。
無論如何，我們都要積極面對，並對初初的康復有信心。我們是絕對不會放棄牠，而除非牠將會完全無法走動而要過著痛苦的一生，我們是絕對不會將牠人道毀滅的。

我將會於明天繼續將初初今天的手術後情況告訴大家。對初初來說，這真是一個悲慘的遭遇，不幸地牠是我們最嚴重的個案，也是傷得最重的一個。但願小小的初初可以堅強地渡過這難關。
